Tips to Take Care of Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin is a condition instead of a skin type. You can have dry, oily, or acne-prone skin and still can develop sensitivity to various factors. It is exceptionally difficult to feel healthy when your skin is in discomfort. Here are a few tips that will help you to prevent developing skin irritation, itching, flaking, redness, burning, or peeling with your am pm skincare routine

Characteristics of Sensitive Skin and Its Causes

Sensitive skin gets red from sun exposure, develops irritation from skin care products or environmental allergens, and shows a flaky surface due to excessive dryness.

Numerous factors cause sensitive skin. It could be something you have to deal with your entire life. It is mainly triggered by genetics, age, environmental exposure, unsuitable skincare products, and lifestyle factors. Chamomile Cleanser can be helpful for your sensitive skin.

Avoid Using Harsh Soaps & Synthetic Fragrances

The synthetic fragrances in skincare products cause sensitive skin to react. In addition, harsh chemicals in soaps damage the lipid barrier. Look for skincare products that are fragrance and preservative free. They must not contain parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, and phthalates. Instead, choose natural skincare with essential oils and flower essence.

Avoid Long Hot Showers

The sensitive skin reacts negatively to heat exposure. The hot water tears down the lipid barrier. Instead, use lukewarm water with a gentle skin cleanser to preserve the protective fatty layer of your skin and aid your daily beauty: regimen.

During bathing, limit the use of cleanser mainly in the armpits, groin, and buttock region, as these are the only spots with odor-producing sweat glands. Keep your shower time short, under ten minutes, if you can. Avoid using washcloths and loofahs, as they can irritate your skin. Right after taking a shower, apply a gentle moisturizer to your damp skin to seal in moisture.

Identify Your Triggers

We have already mentioned that sensitive skin is a condition that reacts negatively to specific triggers. It can be a new perfume, a certain fabric, sun exposure, a makeup product, air conditioning, or central heating. So pay attention to what causes your skin to flare up or trigger an allergic response. Once you identify the triggers, take preventive measures against them.

Choose Natural Calming Ingredients for Sensitive Skin

Reach for natural calming ingredients for sensitive skin. They must be hypoallergenic, mild, and gentle. For example, coconut oil, aloe vera, chamomile, vitamin E, and shea butter are perfect for sensitive skin conditions. In addition, you can try skincare products with hyaluronic acid, olive oil, and sunflower oil.

Try a Patch Test

Trying a new skincare product with attractive packaging and impressive tag lines is always tempting. Unfortunately, experimenting with a new product on sensitive skin can lead to unwanted reactions. Make a patch test before adding a new skincare product to your routine. Test on the skin behind the ears. Wait 24 hours and see if the signs of irritation, redness, or flaking appear. Repeat the test on the patch next to the eyes for the hypersensitive skin. It will help to use skincare products safely.
